Food Security & Livelihoods

South Sudan grapples with a severe food insecurity crisis, leaving over half its population without reliable access to food. The Wonderland Development Agency (WDA) recognizes that conflict and displacement are at the heart of this crisis, devastating the livelihoods of farmers, herders, and fishers across the nation.

Our Food Security and Livelihood (FSL) program stands ready to address these challenges with a strategy centered on immediate relief, sustainable practices, and empowering communities.

WDA’s FSL program goes beyond addressing the immediate hunger crisis. We believe in lasting solutions built in partnership with the communities we serve.

Our Approach

Food Assistance:

We provide life-saving food aid to those facing acute food shortages.

Fishing Support:

Providing fishing gear and guidance on sustainable fishing methods empowers communities to utilize their vital resources.

Agricultural Support:

We supply seeds, tools, and critical training in sustainable farming practices to help farmers increase their yields.

Empowering Women:

We establish Village Saving and Livelihood Associations, offering women essential training in managing profitable microenterprises to support their families and gain greater economic independence.

WDA's Approach:

  • Advocacy: We champion the right to education for all children, working to increase enrollment and keep children in school.
  • Material Support: Providing essential learning materials, teaching supplies, and recreational items for students and educators.
  • Inclusive Learning: “Back to Learning” campaigns and girl-focused awareness programs tackle barriers to education.
  • Infrastructure: Building and rehabilitating classrooms and WASH facilities to create safe, welcoming learning environments.
  • Empowering Educators: Offering training to teachers, parent-teacher associations, and school management committees to ensure high-quality education.

Impact:

Our FSL program isn’t simply about providing aid – it’s about building resilience. By supporting the food production capabilities of vulnerable communities and investing in their knowledge and skills, we aim to:

  • Reduce immediate hunger and malnutrition.
  • Foster self-sufficiency, breaking the cycle of dependence.
  • Strengthen local economies and promote long-term stability.

The Wonderland Development Agency envisions a South Sudan where everyone has the means to feed themselves and their families with dignity. Through our FSL program, we work hand-in-hand with communities to turn this vision into reality, nurturing resilience and restoring hope.
