Peace Building

Millions of South Sudanese children lack access to education – a crisis with far-reaching consequences. Without schooling, girls face increased risks of early marriage, while boys become vulnerable to exploitation and recruitment by armed groups.

The Wonderland Development Agency (WDA) is committed to breaking this cycle, advocating for education as the foundation of a brighter future.

The Challenges We Face:

Decades of conflict have eroded trust, fueling cycles of violence.

Displaced communities and those in refugee camps yearn for stability and healing.

Women are often excluded from key decision-making roles, despite their vital perspectives on peace and reconciliation.

WDA's Multi-Pronged Approach:

  • Fostering Reconciliation: Establishing peace initiatives to bring communities together, heal trauma, and address grievances.
  • Strengthening Traditional Peace Structures: Empowering traditional leaders and systems at the grassroots level to promote peace and justice.
  • Building Skills for Peace: Training communities in conflict transformation and non-violent approaches to address disputes.
  • Women at the Forefront: Increasing women’s participation in peace processes and ensuring their voices are heard in leadership roles.
  • Addressing Protection Needs: Prioritizing the safety of women and girls through capacity building, advocacy, and strengthening community protection networks.

Guiding Principles:

Our peacebuilding work is rooted in the UNSCR 1325 and South Sudan’s National Action Plan, recognizing that empowering women is key to lasting peace. We address the pillars of prevention, protection, participation, promotion, and relief/recovery.

Impact:

WDA’s Peacebuilding program works to:

  • Heal the wounds of conflict and bridge divides within communities.
  • Empower individuals, particularly women, to actively shape South Sudan’s future.
  • Address deep-rooted protection concerns that hinder the full inclusion of women and girls in society.
  • Create stronger, more resilient communities where everyone feels safe and valued.

The Wonderland Development Agency envisions a South Sudan where communities thrive in peace and women are empowered agents of change. Through our holistic peacebuilding initiatives, we work with communities to lay a foundation for a future where justice, shared prosperity, and the safety of all are paramount.
